Growth, Development and Potential Book Reviews

I love the image above, it is so very suitable and appropriate. It describes completely the process we have recently gone through. You see, sales of the book "Relationships" by R.A. Kahn has been a bit slow for a while. So we sat down to problem solve what we might be able to do to help to increase sales once more. Just as the image illustrates, we began by identifying the problem. Next we considered what options we had. We look a look at the information listed on Amazon for the book and decided that a possible solution would lie in obtaining more book reviews.

So we set to work and have begun sourcing publications and readers who might be able to do a book review. We have begun submitting requests and thus far have 4 who replies so far with 3 of them agreeing to do a book review. We have sent off the books and then wait, hope and pray that they reach their destination timeously and safely.

We have just heard that the first book has been received and that the person who will be reading it likes the cover and the blurb on the back on the cover. Well that is two good points towards a positive review.

Now we are back to waiting, hoping and praying that the other two arrive safely. In the meantime, we have more work to do to source suitable publications that do book reviews. If anyone reading this knows of publications that will review a teenage novel, please either email us or write a comment in the comments section below.

It is so very exciting to be a part of the book world. A part of writing and creating good reading material and then doing the work to promote it so that the right readers and find the books. What a fun process.

More Comments Regarding the Cover Image of Relationships

It is fascinating what people read into an image. I'm having a lot of fun reading the emails and posts on peoples thoughts about the painting on the front cover of Relationships by R.A. Kahn.

Here are another two comments sent in:

"It looks like a couple embracing. I think it is an interesting and beautiful abstract that conveys the storyline of your book." (D.S.)

"I was immediately drawn to the yellow, and saw nothing but background in the red and blue. The yellow looked like a child hugging an adult, or perhaps being carried by the adult.

Then I looked more carefully at the red and blue and saw one blue and one red facial profile looking at one another." (D.A.)

What do you see in the image on the cover? Do you like it? Do you dislike it?
 Let us know your thoughts.

If you would like to know more about the book itself, the book is available on CreateSpace and Amazon

We're back

Have you ever read the book "Where's Wally?" It's a fun children's picture book with all kinds of scenes of lots of people and you have to find the missing Wally.

You might be wondering to yourself, what happened to this blog? Where is our author? Why have there been no updates?

Well, Rosemary's Book Corner is still happening, it just took a vacation. Our lovely author has recently returned from a trip to Australia. While she was there, a favourite place to visit was the library. The library has regular book talks, reviews, tea morning for pensioners. Sounds like a special place to spend some quiet time.

We are excited to say that 3 libraries in Australia have shown interest in her teenage novel, Relationships. There are a few schools in Cape Town who have also shown interest in this lovely book for their library. Interestingly, the libraries don’t seem to have a budget. If you would like to sponsor this book going into one of these libraries, either in Australia or Cape Town, South Africa, do be in touch.

Progress of Relationships - teen novel by R.A. Kahn

It's been a while since we posted about "Relationships" the latest book by R.A. Kahn. Things on our side have not been quiet though. The book has been read by a retired high school teacher in Cape Town and more than 10 teens proof read the book. We've had some wonderful feedback and hence the book has had a revision.

On the back of the book you can now find two comments. The first reads: "I have read the book through three times. I enjoyed the story; it is really nice to have a sensible book which is not 'preechy' and yet gets over many valuable messages to the young! ... A recommended read. - Elizabeth H, retired high school teacher.

The next comment reads:" Relationships gives a relevant glimpse into the world of High School. It addresses issues that I could relate to." - M. Gelderblom, age 14

Inside the book, there are more comments from young readers.

We have some book reviews in the pipleline and other exciting happenings. In the meantime, the book is available on the CreateSpace eStore and on Amazon.com

Questions about the book Relationships by R.A. Kahn

An interested buyer sent in a few questions we decided to share with others interested in this terrific book.

Question from A: What type of English is it?

R.A. Kahn answers:- It is an "easy to read" book. Any "South African" words are explained in the glossary at the back of the book for those used to American English.

Question from A: What age range would be interested in the book?

R.A. Kahn answers: The age range depends on the child and the child's reading/interest levels.  Most of the children who have read and enjoyed it were in the 11 - 14 age group.

Question from A: Is the English suitable to those who speak English as a second language?

R.A. Kahn answers: English second language speaking children ought to be able to read it, perhaps with a little help.

The book Relationships can be purchased from CreateSpace and will soon be available on Amazon.com
For those in South Africa interested in purchasing a copy in South Africa, please email us as we are exploring avenues to market the book in South Africa at various bookstores or from the author.
